I have a question, ..do chickens attack little birds like sparrows? I went to my coop today to feed my chickens and found a dead little sparrow outside of the coop I know the little birds can fly into the fenced area but it was laying outside and it looked as if it had one big hole in the back of its neck like it was pecked in the same spot over n over ,..my henny and penyt don't seem the type to do this ,..im not sure what to think ,...or my cat is leaving a warning as to "your next" for my chickens O.O but do chickens attack smaller birds that fly into their pen and kill them?

I've found a lot of dead wild birds since I've had chickens, not sure if it's the chickens or the dogs getting them, but the chickens do run around with the wings peeping loudly as if they have the biggest, fattest, most juicy worm they've ever seen.

I've also found dead snakes, rats and mice...before I had the chickens in the entire 5 other year I've lived here, there were just a couple birds and one rat. Chickens are serious pest control.

You bet they attack smaller birds that fly into their pen and kill them, they eat them too. Witch buy the way is the only reason hens have to kill small birds.

Oreo did not want or intend to share her prize, with the other 3 hens, they just kept chasing her and trying to steal Oreo's sparrow until they ripped its little wings off.
