I have one chick that is not doing well. It is the extra chick not sure what breed but it is so small it can not reach into the waterer or feeder. I got them yesterday but today this one chick seems to be very weak and not very mobile, however it is still vocal. When I try to assist the bird in feeding or getting water it does not seem interested. Should I force feed it?

Wow! He is small. Bantam maybe? can't belive they would put a banty in with regular. Guess ya never know. I had 1 I had to dip his beek in the water 3-4 times every couple hours for a day or two. Might try some chopped up scrambled egg. I wish I knew more. He is a cutey! Hope he makes it!

Good luck and God Bless!

Sometimes dipping their beaks in a little honey can help them when they are weaker. It has helped me help my chicks like that in the past. Just dip the beak in honey and then wipe the outside clean so they dont get stuff stuck to it and have the other chicks peck at them.

How is he doing now? Hope he is better!

That chick looks the same size as our bantams did when they hatched out with our LF. I think you must be right bigstack, but it is a little odd to put him in there! Good luck. hope hes feeling better.

I would dip his beak in water every couple of hours and off him some mashed up hard boiled egg yolk. I fed a chick yolk using a toothpick once. He does look bantamish in size, tho the lack of interest in eating is worrisome. Keep at it, he may come around after a while.
