Little chickens on the prairie

So here are some pictures from our mixed flock. We have a 5 acre property with forest and restored tall grass prairie with some lawned space mixed in around the house itself. We've had chickens before, so we had a better idea of what we wanted. Unfortunately we have a lot of pastured flocks in the neighborhood and a fox who thinks the neighborhood is his own all you can catch chicken buffet. So we've lost a few hens and made some emergency vet visits before we figured out how to manage him. We now have a flock of Easter Eggers, Australorp, Speckled Sussex, and mixed hens. I found out today our adopted hen is a Buckeye. We also have a Delaware rooster and 2 Easter Egger roosters.

Here are our self hatched hens. The barred hen is actually a Delaware Australorp cross. Unfortunately she is the victim of a missed comb grab during mating which ended with her losing her head feathers. The two white colored pre adult hens are Easter Egger Delaware crosses and the little guy is a pure Easter Egger rooster. Usually we eat the roosters as soon as possible but he seems like a good one and we are kind of hoping somebody may want him.

Just a little plug. Most of our hens are from Cackle Hatchery in Missouri. We've had very good success with them and feel like they take care of their animals and are careful about who they use as breeders.
