My leghorn who just started laying had about a inch of her comb torn off. I'm not sure if it was one of the other chickens or something came into my yard. All I know is she had blood all over her. I used quick stop for dogs nails to stop the bleeding. Worked fast, after I looked at my hands I looked like a ax murderer all blood. She seems fine eating drinking. I have separated her from the others for safety. How long should I seporate her and should I put any thing on it to stop infection. I must have caught it just after it happened.

You can separate her until it heals or get some blue kote, apply it to the wound and let her rejoin the flock. You need to be sure no one in the flock is pecking at the wound.

I had one injured like that from poking thru the wire fencing all the time. She finally just her head stuck and yanked it out violently. I used neosporin (non pain relief) for a few days. I have had roosters get battle wounds on their combs as well. Keep the flies off it for a few days.
Good luck..

I would use Vetericyn Wound Spray or plain Neosporin/triple antibiotic ointment. Don't mess with the comb much. Try to put her back in tomorrow with the flock for visiting and free ranging with supervision, as long as the bleeding has stopped. If they peck her, cage her with food and water inside their coop or run, and try it again the next day.

Thank you all for your advice . I will put some ointment on in the am.
