Good Morning!
I have a 1 year old Japanese Silky hen who is tiny even for the breed. She has very little muscle mass, however she is healthy and wormed with a happy attitude and a great appetite. She is probably 1 pound. Looking for suggestions on how to help her gain some weight. She is a pet as all of my happy girls are.
Thanks!!

Do you have photos of her?

What do you feed including treats?

Is she new to you?
Weigh her now and record it. Then track her weight every few days to see is she's maintaining, gaining or losing.

You mention she's happy, eating/drinking, healthy etc. Does she really need to gain weight?

You are absolutely correct; she may not need to gain weight. It just bothers me that her breast bone is so prominent. I have raised parrots and chickens for a long time, and they get the best of treats! table scraps, veggies, fruits, pasta, etc.. She eats and enjoys all, just would like to see her a little more meaty. Thank you for your response, and I love this sight and visit daily!!

Instead of table scraps, get a bag of chick starter or grower. Limit the treats and see how she does. They need fortified chicken feed in order to thrive.
Best wishes and be well!
