Little Miracles....eeek what I found playing on the Egg Turner

This week has been a mess

One of my co-workers was murdered in what appears to be a murder suicide with her fiancee. Needless to say, my week has been upside down at school. I have eggs hatching this week. I THOUGHT I had transferred all my eggs to the hatcher.

This morning I was greeted to peeping from the incubator I use for staggered hatches. 3 fluffed out peeps peeping, bright beady eyes looking up at me, one had its leg stuck a little as the turner was going. OMG my heart had leapt to my throat when I first heard peeping from the wrong side of the room. I gently freed the baby and wondered that the rest of them were intact!

All are FINE!

One other egg is still hatching so I moved HER (in incubation all are pullets until proven otherwise in the coop of law) over to the hatcher with the rest of the hatchlings.... PHEWW!

Okay someone just try and tell me that incubating is a dull sport !

What an awful thing to happen with your coworker! Sure shakes you up, doesn't it?
On the other hand, I think this has to be one of the first Laws of Incubation:

in incubation all are pullets until proven otherwise in the coop of law

I love it, LOL. Guess we're OUTlaws here at my coop, then.

Sunchick, Was this the gal on the news that teaches 5th grade? I think her name was Christi.

Either way, I'm so sorry this happened, it's so hard to lose a friend or co worker, it changes everything, especially when it happens that way.

Don't feel bad SunChick- the same thing happened to me with my latest hatch!

I thought I had moved all the eggs that were due to hatch over to the hatcher... boy was I suprised when 2 mornings later I peeked in the incubator and saw an open egg sitting in the egg turner! I quickly opened the incubator and found one little fluffy chick sitting in the corner on top of the digital thermometer! Thank goodness it didn't get hurt climbing all over those egg turners!

Our teacher was a 4th grade instructor named Stephanie. She didn't show up for work on monday, then everything went down hill from there. This has been a really bad couple monthes, I have known at least 3 people to die in the past 4 monthes, 2 have been homicide victims (my next door neighbor and co-worker) and 1 was killed in Polk county Florida when a tractor trailer smashed into 8 cars.

Two of them had been recently engaged which makes it even sadder.

I do count my little blessings, my 4 year old son just makes me smile. He always seems to do something to cheer me up

My whole week was upside down. My kids have been troopers and have shown complete respect which goes a long way for middle schoolers!

Sorry to hear about your co-worker....sounds like it's been a very rough week. Thanks for getting my eggs out in the midst of it all....I would have been willing to wait

Good thing you found them. I had found some of my own chicks hatching out of the turner a few times which I mis calculate the days and higher temps made them hatch a little sooner.

It happens to the best of us. Sorry about your co worker. It has been a bad week with all those killings in schools too!

I'm glad your baby is ok and I'm very sorry to hear about your coworker. My students have been so worked up over it they want me to keep the door of our portable locked.

Sorry to hear about your co-worker. It is a very hard thing to deal with and then to have students to help though it I would imagine is very tough.
