I was fairly certain this was a little pullet until she made a very odd sound this morning. Almost sounded like it was trying to crow. She (?) is between 4-6 months old. What's your opinion?

is it a Cochin EE cross? It looks like some sort of EE cross...

I really dont know. My cochin hens all looks comby like this one.. and you'd think by 4-5 months if he was a he he'd be crowing already.

Maybe roo?

lol. I am so not helpful...

that is a roo-ster and a beauty at that!
notice the BIG and RED comb and wattles, a pullets comb and wattles would be pinkish and less then half that size.
you have a great looking roo! good luck with him

Oh No! We weren't planning on having any roos! I'm not sure what we'll do. It is WAY more red than all of our girls.

Well we live in the middle of nowhere. We are allowed to have roos. Quite a few people in our town have them. No one complains. I will wait and see how loud "he" is. My Dh will probably want to keep him. He's all into my chickens now and suddenly wants to hatch eggs.

So far this little guy is only making the funny crowing sound for a few minutes in the morning when I first let them out of the coop. Will it get louder and more often as it gets older. Probably not a question that can be answered I know, more of a wait and see thing.

Most likely answer is louder, but as to frequency? That's a tossup!
