Hi BC Friends! Coming to you for help! Went out this morning to let my chickens out & my little Rhode Island Red was still in her coop nesting. Was plety daylight enough & the other 3 chickens & 2 ducks were already out in the pen yard ready to go. She come out only after I opened her coop door. She has been sitting since...
She will get up when I go to check on her, but she seems to have a slight limp on her right leg. I checked her over & disn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but I'm rather new at chickens still & havn't had any injured/sick ones to deal with before this.
She is now back in her pen yard, just laying by the feed bucket. She also seems to be panting a bit. But it's quite nice to day, cloudy & much cooler than it has been. We are in OK and the temps have been between 100-110 all summer. I have all females, no rooters. No critters have infiltrated their coop. (We have built our flock a Fort Knox style home!) Lol and all my flock always get along nicely! She is about 1 1/2 years old & has been laying well, even throughout this summer.
Please help, too attached to lose her!
