I just saw this today. My Golden Comets are good layers. I usually get X-Large to jumbo eggs but this little one is a first time event. Is that due to winter cold? Is it edible?

Thanks for the reply. These girls 9 months old and have been laying since early June. So I’ll keep an eye on it. Hopefully it’s just a rare oopsIt is edible. When you crack it you may find it is all yolk or all white or it may be a perfectly formed egg inside, just tiny. Those eggs aren't that unusual, we often call them fart eggs or fairy eggs.
The hen's internal egg making factory is pretty complex, occasionally one will have an oops. As long as it is not consistent I consider we all deserve an occasional oops. No big deal. That type of thing tends to happen when a pullet is first starting to lay, it may take a bit for them to get all the kinks out of that internal egg making factory. Really old layers seem to have more oops eggs too. But any hen can lay one of those.
