Little Tykes Playhouse Coop

You will need to use hardware cloth if you want the coop to serve as protection from predators

"Hardware cloth" isn't much better. Small predators such as Coons, Possum, Rats, Cats have been known too go through "Hardware cloth". A better choice would be 1" x 2" or 1/2" x 1" welded after galvanized wire like the type that is used on live traps. I will also say that you can relay never have a predator proof pen.

Are you talking about the 1/2" x 1/2" 19 gauge galvanized wire hardware cloth?
If my one of my neighborhood cats went through that I don't think I'd even be going out alone at night

I'm talking about the cheaper hardware cloth like TSC sells, I believe it is 1/2" x 1/2" but unsure on the Gage.
It has some very light welds and the welds are easily broken.

While my chickens are still babies and in their brooder in the living room I'm constructing them a new coop. I saw a cute idea online and I've decided to make them a due to the bad weather we've had this week. Here's my checklist of things I'm going to do....

- Construct a run (16ft long, 4 ft wide, and 4 1/2 ft tall) and attach it to front of the coop.
- Spray foam insulation between the walls and caulking to the joints.
- Replace the red door with wood, I may actually cover that whole opening and make a small door at the bottom that will lead into their run
- Add wheels for easy mobility
- Construct shutters to the windows for when it rains/predators (in winter the chickens will be moving into the barn)

If anybody has any ideas I would love to hear them!!

How did you replace the door with a wood one ,I have my whole playhouse done for my chickens but I can't figure out the door

@Chicken lady 2022 Do you have a picture? We also started with a playhouse and have since added on. All we did was take off the half door and put hinges to attach a full door.

First picture is whe we just had 4 chickens. 2nd is our add on.
