Are you talking about the 1/2" x 1/2" 19 gauge galvanized wire hardware cloth?
If my one of my neighborhood cats went through that I don't think I'd even be going out alone at night
You will need to use hardware cloth if you want the coop to serve as protection from predators
"Hardware cloth" isn't much better. Small predators such as Coons, Possum, Rats, Cats have been known too go through "Hardware cloth". A better choice would be 1" x 2" or 1/2" x 1" welded after galvanized wire like the type that is used on live traps. I will also say that you can relay never have a predator proof pen.
