I was cleaning out the coop this afternoon and let the girls out to free range while I cleaned. One of the girls (I did not see which one) pooped outside the coop. I noticed what looked like small grains of rice moving around in the fresh poo. later I found some very runny poo that had the same thing. Are these worms or eggs, and what do I do about it?
Everyone seems healthy as they were all scratching for bugs in the yard and eating up a storm. And they are all drinking. Any advice?

Thanks!

you might want to try a search in the predators and pests section for worming instructions. I have only seen roundworms in my hens. Not sure what this is but it almost sounds like tapeworms. There are some really good posts on worming, just try searching on a few key words (worms, roundworms, tapeworms, etc). Good Luck.

It sounds like tapeworms.

You will need to worm your chickens A.S.A.P. to get rid of these or they will end up killing them.

Those are tape worms. Tape worms have segments the break off and that is why there are little rice sized pieces. Long spaghetti like with tapered ends is round worms.
