nearly fully developed..

I have done it three times.....it's not a mistake, once they are dead, they are dead. I had turkeys that were fully developed but dead, you cant tell when they've been dead by their eyes and legs. I had 3 chicks that failed to hatch, they were alive on hatch date but failed to pip or anything. 3 fully grown, definitaly dead chicks. Then once I had chicks that did hatch and the 7 eggs that didn't hatch, 6 were infertile, 1 had a dead chick in it. Not a mistake, they were already dead. My chicks came down with mushy chick disease in the egg, due to humidity. Everything about that disease is basically identical to my problem. Now I've learned

I always like to crack my eggs open to at least see how many were developing, learn from my mistakes while incubating, so when I try again I don't make the same mistakes. It doesn't gross me out as much as rotten eggs do....I can't breath with that smell! Once I had an egg that exploded when I was trying to crack it open!

*sigh* have you guys ever had a hen that you bought turn out actually to be a rooster. and begged your dad to rehome it but he killed it. and then furthermore he ate it. and so you decided that you weren't going to eat chicken anymore. and then had your entire family tease you about it.........

oh honey, many times. we once bought a "hen" ready to lay, and then a week later he crowed! and then we once had a bantam who we could have bet 1234567 dollars that she was a cockerel. but no, she laid a egg, right there in front of me. and yep! i am still teased. just be glad it isn't 100 roosters ( we bought 100 and we-- I'm sorry, they are going to be eating them)
