Well, a cross breed will get a little of both. When I crossed the redstar and Dominique, I got the high production from the redstar and the hardiness of the dominique. Very fascinating.

That's interesting. I have a bunch of eggs in my incubator right now. Their dad is a BLRW Roo and the hens are, Sicilian buttercup, red sex link, buff oprington(maybe) Black Australorp, GLW and a few others. I also have purebred eggs in there I had a silkie egg in that bunch but after candling I can clearly see that it won't develop. What type of incubator do you have?
