Earlier today I drove 13 of my surprise chicks (more like pullets, but still babies to me) to their new home.

I was . . . not pleased with where I left them.

The coop was around five feet by five feet, ten feet tall with no perches. The floor was bare dirt. No food or water to be seen. Keep in mind he put 13 young chickens into this coop.

I didn't want to walk away, but I'm a tiny woman and it was only men with me. They seem very nice, and they told me they were planning on building a larger coop, but along with the 13 chickens I left them with they also had around 12 more. I can't imagine they know the proper coop size for all these chickens.

I've been told to just let it go and forget about it since they're not my chickens anymore, but I really can't. I just can't stand the thought of those little guys going from the pampered free-range life to a tiny little cage.

So basically what I'm asking is, if it was you, would you contact the people and subtly hint that the living conditions aren't so good? (I was considering bringing them large food and water feeders to hint that chickens kind of eat a lot) Or would you let it go?

the time to have said something would have been before you left them. Or, should I say, not to have left them at all. Once you turned them over to the new owners, you lost all right to any input.

Sorry

Once you sell a chicken, or anything else, it's no longer yours. How do you know they won't be free-ranged in the future? How do you know they didn't put in food and water after you left? You don't know what they do or don't know about chickens. There's really nothng you can do about it now.
