A dog is next on my list, however I have to give it some time as hubby is not yet on board Our last one passed 3 years ago and he’s not anxious to get another one. I however want one more in my lifetime.

Welcome. If you are worried about the coop lasting, put it inside or your run and make it in the covered part. Meaning, make a large run of 1/2 inch hardware cloth, sides, top and an apron, and then cover the top 1/2 with a tarp and have the coop be in that part of the run. It will also provide double protection.
