Lovely! We have luminaries--there are a lot of electric ones now, but the paperbag and tea candles are usually reserved for Christmas Eve. Tamales for dinner. As I drove home from handbell practice last night, I realized that every one of the houses on a very long street in my neighborhood are decorated and lit. One of the houses on a different street has one of those over the top displays that draws lots of cars to drive past--they have barrels for non-perishable food donations for local charities are either side of the yard. My next door neighbors have a simple, but wonderful star at the top of their very tall palm tree, with trails of lights from four of the five points--and at the bottom is a Nativity Scene: absolutely beautiful, simple and sincere.
