I just purchased Blue, Black, and Splash Ameraucana eggs for $2.00 each from a good 'ol boy in Mississippi who is a member of the breeders club. I also got Black Copper Maran eggs from a local breeder for $3.00 an egg. Both breeders were only somewhat local...being within 75 miles of my house and I drove to pick the eggs up. It really depends on the breeder, their flock (if they have show winners or rare birds), and demand for that particular breed: Check out Greenfire Farms in Florida to see what I mean about high end eggs/juvenile birds.
I saw same Delaware eggs for $10 a dozen, RIR, Buff Orph, Barred Rock around $2-4 a dozen, Ameraucanas from $2-$10 depending if there true, True Marans and Welsummers $15+ a dozen and a barn yard mix(Mutts) is about $2 a dozen.
Silkie eggs are $2/each, porcelain d'uccles, $4/egg for barnevelders, $2/egg for BCMs, and $1/egg for olive-egger project eggs.
Some people will sell project eggs as little as $5/dozen, and other people will sell them for $1/egg or $10/dozen. I can usually get fertile mutt/mixed breed eggs pretty much anywhere for $3-$5 a dozen.
A friend of mine took a D'Uccle rooster of mine. I casually mentioned I would love to try hatching her hens eggs. I traded a dozen eating eggs for a dozen hatching eggs! She is bringing me another dozen on Sunday!
today i searched craigslist and found a couple of local people selling hatching eggs... i got so mad... i just set eggs in my bator three days ago... RAWR!!!...
