Shawn Zentner is just spouting the company(FDA) line. Speaking of which, why is it that the FDA the USDA and the Heath Departments all have different responsiblities when it comes to eggs? God forbid if you want to sell your eggs to a restaurant, the hoops you have to jump thru here in Ohio make it impossible.
But back to Shawn, he needs to pay a visit to an egg farm and watch how they handle their eggs. I'll bet he doesn't know that the wash water they use in these large operations is recycled. All it takes to contaiminate the entire day's production is some fecal matter on the first egg. The regulations regarding egg sales are NOT for our health and safety, they're in place to reduce competition. It takes no time to learn how to grade eggs. After all it's 4 grades and mainly the size of the air cell and exterior appearance. Much harder to grade meat than eggs.
It costs you money to have an AMS certified person on site to give your eggs the USDA's blessings. And the big boys don't even have to look at each egg, they just do a sampling of the entire lot. As long as the paperwork is correct, they are good to go. It's enough to make me sick. Which is why we never eat store eggs. Don't even get me going on trying to sell broilers. That's a whole nother rant.

Now somebody help me off this soapbox, please.

I personally would be more concerned with what kind of stuff the Rhubarb was fertilized/sprayed with and it's proper washing. Yet it's unregulated and perfectly safe to use.

That is crazy who would of thought that he couldn't use his eggs. It's all about money. Why we can't have people eating healthier foods which big brother hasn't had his hands in.
