I've read a name for leaving the eggs in the turner/carton position with small end down & big end up however I can't currently recall it. My question is which is the best method, leaving eggs on end or turning them onto their side when the bator goes on lock-down? I've heard of people leaving them on end but the best method would seem to be on side as that is 'nature's way'.

For the record I've put my 10 eggs on lock-down this AM. Thurs/Friday can't get here soon enough!

I usually just lay them down in the incubator but we have 4 bators going and DH decided for lockdown, he was going to use the egg cartons in his(LOL) incubator to see how the hatch turns out......we'll know in a couple of days how it goes...

I used to use egg cartons until I had one chick pip low.....it was unable to zip due to the interference from the carton and it died. I now lay them on their side....besides, I love to watch them rock and roll around, which the eggs don't do in a carton.

I put the eggs on their sides. I'm glad I did cause I had the pipping all over the place. The actual incubation was done in cartons, but during hatching I took them out. I had a decent hatch, 10/13. Good luck!!!

My four JG eggs went on lock down yesterday afternoon. I have one quitter I think and three look OK. I have them standing in the carton but this is my first time, so I got no clue what is best. I went by a couple of other posts who had good luck with the stand up method. I am not opposed to laying them down if this thread ends up with alot of lay downers. Good Luck.
