Lock down eggs, on end or side?

On my first batch this year I laid the eggs down on an egg flat, thus it didn't matter where they pipped and the eggs were still secure and not rolling around...worked well for me.

Let us know how it turns out... I would only worry that cupcake papers are real thin paper, like tissue paper and might be a little sticky on a wet hatching chick??? Let us know how it works out.... Thanks

hmmm....never thought about that.....i'm leaning more towards folding up a hand towel (i only have 8 small eggs) and placing it on one side of the bator with the eggs on it. and i think i MAY place a stick, or piece of wood right up against the towel to make a very shallow "wall" so the eggs will kinda stay in there.....like a make-shift nest i guess.
