lock down question

I have 5 quail eggs going onto lock down. Do I take them out of the egg carton and lay them on their side or just leave them be?

Most people prefer taking them out because that's the natural hatching position for them.

I know this could be off topic and I have posted this question a few times a litrtle bit in desperate situation at day 17 I need to increase the aircel in like half my set with only three days to go... is this even possible? I am beginning to think not. Any help or advice is welcome.
