I'm incubating 6 duck eggs for a friend. 3 of my Rouen eggs & 3 Cayuga eggs she bought. My question is, today @ 6AM is day 23 for the Rouen eggs & @ noon today is day 21 for the Cayuga eggs ( I didn't know she was getting the Cayuga eggs til after I put the Rouens in !!!). The Rouen eggs have a drawn down air cell they have been moving a bit & when I candle them I can see a little part of what looks like a shadow of a wing near the air cell ( assuming it's getting into place) on 1 of the eggs, the Cayuga eggs I see movement but the air cell have not started the draw down yet. My temp is around 101f & humidity is around 45 ( I have a still air incubator so I have the temp at 101). Should/Can I go into lockdown today???? Without hurting the Cayuga eggs???? Thanks.

I've incubated quite a few duck eggs and I think it would be better to wait a couple more days. I also know people that incubate ducks and never take them off of the turner.

You can Lockdown today and remove the egg turner. Place eggs with air cells facing upwards.
Great, so if I lockdown today, it won't hurt the Cayuga eggs that are a couple days behind??? I've been hand turning so I don't have to worry about the egg turner.

Definitely no problem I hatch eggs from Broody hens in my incubator and have a rough estimate of due dates. Sometimes I'm in lockdown for 5 or 6 days before they hatch. Just make sure all air cells are big enough to hatch properly.

Great, Thanks. I'm so excited for these eggs to hatch, can't wait to see the little "fur babies"!!!!
