I ordered 18 silkie eggs and I have 7 of them that made it to lockdown. 8 were yolkers and 3 were quitters. I candled them today and they were all full of chick but some of them had saddle shaped air sacs but I laid them on their sides with the lowest part of the saddle up so here’s hoping that they hatch.

I also have some Silver Appleyard ducklings in another incubator. I ordered 8 of them and only 1 has been a quitter so far and the others are looking good. They should hatch the first day of September. Getting more and more excited by the day. I’ve been misting my eggs daily with warm water and talking to my little unborn ducks which has resulted in some side eye from my husband as he’s probably thinking I’m losing my mind.

We planned to only get 5 chickens And that was it. However we now have over 40 birds. Chickens, ducks, guineas and a turkey who thinks it’s a chicken. Can’t wait to see how these two batches of eggs turn out. ❤️

Did any of the eggs hatch yet? Silkies hatching egg often do not do well when shipped.

5 hatched but one was very weak and small and didn’t make it. The other 4 are thriving.
