I have a Hovabator Genesis that monitors temperature & humidity. I put a digital hygrometer on my egg turner, and both the Genesis and the hygrometer were measuring pretty darn close to each other.

Today is lockdown. I took out the egg turner, laid out my remaining good eggs and put the hygrometer on a piece of styrofoam on the wire bottom. I have a pretty big fluctuation in humidity levels now; the Genesis reads lower, and the hygrometer reads higher.

My question: which reading should I go with? I'm assuming I should pay more attention to the hygrometer, since it is down low where the eggs are.

Can you tell I'm a first time hatcher?

I've been keeping my humidity levels pretty low until now... I don't want to drown OR shrink wrap my chicks!

Thanks for any help! It is very much appreciated.

I would not worry so much what the hygrometer says at this point since you're in lockdown.
Just keep both reservoirs FULL.
Keep the incubator closed at all times using a straw or syringe to add water through the plug or hole.
The chicks won't drown since they're past that point of development.
GOOD LUCK with your hatch!!
