PS.... Yes, that humidity is pretty high. be sure all your vents are wide open ... need the oxygen!

Why do some put their incubated eggs into the paper type egg cartons when locking down for the last 3 days? I have a couple of Marsh plastic dome type incubators, I assume this would not be used with my type.

I've read that the egg carton helps in the hatching process because it keeps the egg in the right orientation, air cell up. This way fewer chicks pip at the wrong end of the egg. i've heard that the chicks can pip, zip and hatch out easily from the carton. The egg doesn't roll around at all during hatching and all the energy that the chick puts into pecking actually goes into cracking the shell rather than generating motion. It sounds like a good idea to me, I'd like to try it sometime.
