I'm doing my first incubation using a Janoel 12 and currently on day 18. From what I understand, when you go into lockdown, you aren't supposed to open it up again. So my question is, how am I to adjust humidity if it starts getting out of whack?

Hey there! If the humidity starts to get REALLY out of whack, you can open the incubator to adjust it quickly. When hens are hatching chicks, they leave the nest every day to drink and eat ect, even when the chicks are about to hatch, so yours will be fine if you need to do something.

Keep in mind that the high humidity only affects the eggs once they have externally pipped. You can wait to goose the humidity until that first external pip, it is after that point that you want to avoid opening the incubator unless absolutely necessary as the drop in humidity can dry out the exposed membrane of the hatching chick. So, assuming your air cells are where you want them to be at this point in your incubation, wait till your first pip, and then depending on how your incubator holds water, fill several of the channels or whatever and you should be good to go for the rest of the hatch without needing to put any more water in. Good luck with your hatch!
