lockDOWN? What is Lockdown?

They are fine to be left in the incubator. Each time you open the bator, the humidity will drop. This can cause you to lose chicks. It is best to just leave them all alone until the hatch is completed.

Thanks kathyinmo~ you posted just what I was looking for,my first chick zipped & hatched a few hours before they were due.Since I have 7 eggs in a small Brinsea, I hurriedly removed the shell & hygrometer, hoping that all others will be Ok but there is not much room & the hatched chick seems happier w/ out the its shell, just eggs. I'm soooo eggs-cited I won't be too disapointed if the others don't hatch, but one had also piped & is now close to zipping. I have them in a bathroom w/ extra humidity & had the incubator humidity up to 65%+ before I opened it. Praying
