Here we go... my first time hatching and I am putting 18 eggs on lock down this morning as soon as I candle them one more time. I have only candled twice so far. First time was a week after setting 30 eggs. Kept 30 in the bater - had a hard time telling. Second time I threw out 12 of them and cracked them open to determine accuracy. Out of those 12 only one had a chick in it and I felt HORRIBLE after I cracked it open

Other than that, have only opened it to add water and not messed with the eggs at all.

here's to hoping this candling experience goes well and the eggs all hatch!

ETA - scratch that... I went to put them on lockdown and there's peeping coming from the bater. One of the eggs is pipped. Here's to hoping that it is out of the egg tonight when I get home. I will have hubby check on it throughout the day

TO hear the Peeping is so uplifting! I just finished my first hatching, last one pipped this morning and this has been a very emotional experience. Good luck with your hatching!!!

Heres waiting for the rest of them - they are not actually due until tomorrow - so I had one early bloomer

I don't see any more pips or hear any other peeping from the bator - so here's hoping they all make it!
