We find ourselves in the position of having to move, and we cannot take out remaining two hens with us. They are older, and only sporadically laying now, but they are good chickens, quiet, and no trouble at all. Would anyone in my area be willing to take them?
One is Milly, a blue splash Polish. She will be five this year. She's mostly white with only a few of the blue/gray "splash" feathers. She is a typical Polish hen- cute, but a bit spacey.
The second is Belle, an Austolorp. She will be four this year.
As I said, neither one is a champion layer at this point, but Milly did go through several periods over the summer where she gave us a pretty white egg three or four times a week. Belle lays at about the same rate. Belle went through a very hard molt very late in the year last year, and still looks a bit ragged.
