Hi I have a lone outside my house and it looks like someone has released a drake into to The pond and in Australia we are going into winter should I catch him or let him be? Or should ask animal control. I have my own duck flock so if i do manage to catch him he can live with tI me any advice is appreciated

If you want to catch him why not. He’d probably appreciate having a safe home. Are you letting your flock out on the pond? Maybe they will accept him into the fold. What breeds do you have and what breed is the dumptee?

The pond is a public pond and he is a runner, he won’t last very long since he is white I could use one of my ducks to lure him in, I’ll try to catch him and update you later

Ok I am going out now to go catch him
Seriously, bring a net! We had a little runner boy that someone dumped at one of our public ponds. I went there with treats thinking I'd just grab him and go. Haha, not quite! The geese there were practically trying to get in my car with me but that little runner was a bugger. I couldn't even come close but if I had a net I bet I could have.
