Lone duck, goose companion?

My duck's mate was killed earlier today in broad daylight (they went in a coop at night) by a raccoon. We are re-doing his pen tomorrow to make it more secure. But I was wondering if I should get him a goose buddy to also assist in security. I had geese before and they were good watch animals. I had my geese with the duck that was killed and I never had any problems, they were inseparable, but I raised them together from hatchlings.Do geese and drakes generally get along?
