Hello, I have a 2 week old baby duckling who is alone unfortunately the other egg didn’t make it so now it’s just him. He’s bonded to me, and in a few days I’m leaving on a trip for 3 days. I have a family member who has a farm and is going to come by and see him every so often, but I’m worried about him being alone for so many days even if she comes to play with him and babysit. Any recommendations? 🥺 he’s my baby.. I have a camera set up too where I can keep an eye on him.

Can she take him home and set him up in his own area until you get back? He'd get more attention and be able to see and hear other animals.
Yeah she can, she has other Peking ducks too that are adults, but she’d keep him in his own brooder for now. Thing is once she takes him I know I won’t get him back cause I only planned to keep him for a few months till he got older and then give him to her but now is so soon and I’m not ready to let go 😭

He needs to be near a person constantly at this stage, since he's a lone duck. You have to think about his welfare above yours. If it's at all possible you should find another duckling to be with him...seems like Craig's List is offering ducklings constantly. Definitely don't leave him alone at your house while you're away - that would be tragic for the poor thing.

I’m going to take him to my cousins farm, where she has several ducks as well.
