Today my female Buttonquail who was two years old passed away. I was really close to her but the malr on the other hand I can’t touch without him having a fit but now he’s all alone and growling. Im not sure how to get him a partner I live in Maine and there’s no one selling button quail in state that I could find and I’ve checked Craigslist but only out of state results. Online it seems you’re forced to buy a male if you buy a female I just want to order a pair of girls but it seems impossible without that spare roo any ideas?

You may find it easier to find another male, if you just wanna get him a friend. Most breeders I've heard of would be willing to give you a single male.

This may sound crazy but if we have a lone duckling a mirror and stuffed animal works wonders. I don't know if it would work for an older animal such as a quail or not. Sorry for your loss.

Sadly I don’t think another male is plausible with him as he’s very aggressive to other males and it throws him into a blind rage

yes mirrors and stuffed animals definitely works wonders for babies he grew up with both. He currently has mirrors in his enclosure I gave him a little stuffed toy but all he’s doing is growling at it :(
