Hey all. I posted a month or so ago asking about culling my 3 year old hens (2 of them) because they were relentlessly mean to a Silkie roo I introduced around thanksgiving. Their attitudes towards him have gotten worse. All out fights, ending with his comb badly bloodied. Granted he is young, will be 1 this spring but I thought they would have gotten used to him and accepted him by now.
Earlier last week, i separated the hens, each in their own dog kennel (as was recommended by others in this forum)to hopefully reset the order and give him some time to heal. Well, I put my nicer of the two hens with him last night and as I was watering them this morning, another fight broke out. He held his ground but the hen got him good. I put her back in the kennel and decided to cull the two mean hens. (I have 16 new chicks coming mid February).....
My question, will he be ok being alone til May-ish when the new girls will be ready to join him?
