Glad you could join the flock! I'm guessing she is pecking at it as she did not hatch the duckling. Does your hen have chicks at the moment? Please do pop by the duck section, I'm sure the members there will be able to help you out.

Sounds like you will need to separate the baby from the hen. Hope all goes well, so wishing good luck with the newbie.
