Lonely Duck

About and month ago I got two little Pekin ducklings who have grown into massive feathered birds. Sadly, one of my loves was killed by a raccoon yesterday. (It was at sunset and I caught the culprit in the act as I went to tuck them in for the night.) Today my Fink has not left my side and honks like crazy if I’m not in sight. He clearly needs a companion but my question is.. do I need a duck the same breed or the same age? I was gifted these ducks so I’m not even sure how old Fink is. Any direction would be very helpful. Thank you!

ooh noo I am so sorry.
like other's said it really doesn't matter what breed, ducks are sociable and need companionship.
When I put my smaller ducks in with them, (after they got to know them through the fence for a bit) they would grab them with their bill over their head or push into them with her chest, that didn't last long. (mostly my Rouen would do this) within a day or so she would go to them and lay down.
and now they are all the best of buds. I mention this because maybe you can get a slightly smaller duck and they would get along fine.

Good luck and again I am sorry for you loss :(

I'm so sorry. I have a Peking and 2 khakis. The Peking is a lot bigger. They were raised together, but the two khakis did pick on the Peking in the beginning. Now they are inseparable. I think Pekings have a pretty good disposition normally. Hope you find a companion soon.
