Lonely ducks/ how can I help them

I'm so sorry you lost your duckie.
:hugs

I'm sure they need time to mourn and adjust. But it might make you feel better to check their area for anything that might have injured her or signs of predation.
Thank you. And I did a nice check after she died and I could not find anything she might have injured herself on. I also know that a predator was not involved. I am lost on what happened to her

This sounds crass (it isn't intended to do so), but do you still have her? A vet or a necropsy might help, although it certainly doesn't sound like it was anything communicable.

I have no idea how she died. I came home to find her lying on her back , then when I flipped her over , she fell right down and couldn’t hold herself up. She had no injuries other then it looked like she nicked her wing a little. She was perfectly healthy and an hour before her death, she was up and running around. Their coop and run is enclosed and no predators could get in. Tomorrow when I get out of work in the morning, I was thinking of bringing them inside and spending some time with them, I just don’t know how long they can be like this for
Do you have gnats?

I do still have her but she is buried. I didn’t even think to send her to get check because we have no vets around where I live that take in ducks. Although, that would have been a great idea.

There was blood on the end of her one wing but it was very little. All the blood was on her wing, there were no drops of blood in her coop or in the run. One of the other ducks had a speck of blood on his fur that I am guessing is from her because he didn’t have any injury to him. I know she didn’t die from the other ducks pecking her because I’m guessing if that was the case, she would have more injuries/ open wounds on her
If it was injury from the other ducks you’d also see signs of bruising under her feathers. It may have just been generic unfortunately:c .. I hope your other two babies will feel better soon ;.;

We had ducks, and sometimes for no obvious reason, it can happen that they have a stroke or epileptic episode.
It can be genetic, or from a time of developing in the egg.
And the duck can go on for years without anything being visible, and out of the blue, they cramp up, flap around wildly, and die.
A blood vessel in the brain ruptured, some unknown factor causing them to cramp...and that sure will terrify the other birds who witness it.
You might wanna to clean up the duck house, get new bedding in, make it extra comfy for the birds and offer them treats.

If they don't want to go in anymore for a time, thats normal.
But changing their home interior up might help to get over the bad memories.
And if you got a night light to put inside so they won't spook in total darkness, it might help them to accept their home again.
For my old duck it was a flash light of a camera that made her cramp up and die.

Something in the brain just misfired, caused by the sudden bright flash and caused her to die. Bodies are strange that way.

Good luck to you and the duckies

Thank you so much for your reply , I am gonna try that option and change up their interior. I’ll also add in a night light. So sorry about your loss as well.

In the summer time we get them a lot. But as of right now, they don’t seem to be out so much. But yes, where I live, we do get them occasionally
So they did not kill her. I just lost 3 chickens - 2 three month olds and a year old broody - to gnats. Maybe it was something small but deadly. Like a spider.
