Lonely ducks/ how can I help them

So they did not kill her. I just lost 3 chickens - 2 three month olds and a year old broody - to gnats. Maybe it was something small but deadly. Like a spider.

Well, the chicks died of suffication I believe. They were Sebright/OEGB. Takes 2 gnats, one in each nostril. I have a friend who lost 30/36 of ger chicks to gnats. Then the hen was broody and already had a crop problem. I believe she died of blood loss because she would not move from her nest.
