Lonely hen

I lost my third hen today out of a small flock of four. They did not make it to two years of age and I am torn about getting more. The one remaining hen is distraught and lonely never having been dominant or alone. Should I get her a companion now or wait until spring when I can purchase from a reliable breeder?

I would try to find her a friend ASAP , if possible. Chickens don’t do well when they are alone. Good luck finding her a friend....

Get one now. There are plenty of people on this board that can offer a hen.

Yes she needs a friend or 2. There are usually local FB groups for chickens as well. I know there are several near me, and people always have hens looking for new coops. Good luck.
