Yesterday was hatching day for our 36 coturnix quail eggs at school. One hatched sometime last night, but I don't see any signs of more eggs hatching! There is no pips or cracks that I can see on any eggs. The poor little guy is chirping his head off! Do you think any more will hatch? How long should I leave the eggs in there, it's already a day past hatching time. I'm just worried he's going to be all by himself! Any advice? Thanks!

P.S. The temperature has been stable at 99 F and the humidity has overall been really stable too around 40-50% and I raised it up to 60% for lockdown. The eggs have been in an automatic turner for the first 15 days too. The only thing that I am a little worried about is when I had to move the incubator, all the eggs were rolling around and hitting the sides. There was no obvious cracks, I just hope there's no internal damage.

Only incubating at 99 degrees? 99.5 is recommended but I incubate at 99.8 - 100. And 30% humidity. You may still get some to hatch but it will take longer.
You moving the eggs didn't hurt them.

My incubator doesn't show decimals so maybe it was at 99.5 F, but I'm not for sure. Hopefully it was though! I didn't know .5 F would affect the hatch this much. Do you know how long they could be delayed?

Good news! Number two hatched, but I still feel like there should be a lot more hatched by now. I actually do have an another hygromometer (sorry if I spelled it wrong) in the incubator. Right now it is at 98.4 F (Uh-oh) and 60% Humidity. I guess I found the problem, well anyways I set the temperature to 100 F instead of 99 F so hopefully it will go up a bit but I think it's too late to fix the whole low temperature problem. Do you think I will still get a good hatch rate? By the way, my hygromometer isn't the very best quality, so I don't know how accurate that thing is. My incubator's built in thermometer is probably more accurate, so don't fully trust the hygromometer's readings! Lol

There is now 5 total chicks, and two more eggs pipping! We moved the oldest 5 into the brooder, but now I'm worried about the 2 that are hatching. One egg has been cracking since 8:00 am this morning, when should i help him hatch? I'm afraid he got shrink wrapped when I opened the incubator to move the chicks out. The egg is almost fully cracked in a circle, and he still pushes every once in a while. Any advice?

I helped out the chick that was stuck, he's resting now but he looks pretty weak. My class named him 'Lil Don 😂 While I was helping him hatch another chick just popped out! I am going to leave the incubator running for a few more days because this isn't even a 20% hatch rate! And I spent quite a bit of money on these eggs. But who knows, maybe the eggs are just a bit behind schedule.
