I had a bantam rooster and three standard size hens. They loved him and he loved them. If I understand that you have 4 hens and one smaller roo, I would put them together when he is old enough to boss them around.

Depends on the chicken's individual personality. Sometimes I have to rehome the ones that don't get along or they live in a coop with a mate and don't get to play with the other chickens.
I was just trying to say that they can hold their own with large fowl.
Usually the oldest guy is the boss until the youngsters challenge.
I've also learned it's better to keep 3 roos together, as compared to 2 .If someone starts a fight, the dominate roo usually breaks it up(Usually by doing the wing dance)

Please allow me to explain how this works. Not trying to be a know it all, but I`ve dealt with this enough to know the drill.

Several posters have said the key words, "when he`s old enough". That`s just it. A mature cock will dominate any hen and any younger rooster. That is until he is overpowered by a younger, but still mature cock. Maturity is the key and a young cockeral will be tormented by older pullets or hens. It`s simple. A mature cock is in charge, a young cockeral is a wimp by comparison, even to the ladies. Size has little or nothing to do with it.........Pop
