I have an approximately 3-4 week old silkie. I just let her two hatch mates go to their new home and she is all alone now. I've noticed her crop doesnt seem full anytime I feel it. I dont think she is eating well. I'm trying to find her a companion but in the meantime any ideas on getting her to eat better?? We have her in the house with us and try to have her out with us as much as possible. I have nutridrench and poultry RX on hand. Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

Thanks 20190620_210427.jpg

Cute baby!!!

How is her size compared to her hatch mates? Is she pooping ok? Does she behave normally? Does she feel underweight compared to your others?

I have a Cochin who never seems to have a full crop, but she's justfine. She just doesn't pig out like her sisters. If she is acting, pooping, drinking, growing normally, I'd put her with her mates. Separating them may cause stress and/or integration issues later on down the road.

She said that she already re-homed the hatch-mate's and only has this one now.

She seems fine in all other regards. She was a little quieter then the others but I chalked that up to them being roosters. I had them all blood dna tested for sex so I could home the roos before they got to big. But she is mobile will preen. I did noticed her break is just a tad off. Like possible scissor beak. It is not affect ting her eating when she does eat I made sure she was actually consuming the starter and she is. I really think she is lonely and a little depressed.

Oh, DUH! I was thinking they were moved from a brooder to an actual coop. LOL!
:lau

If that's the case, I'd def get a companion and try some egg yolk and mash, just as @BlueBaby suggests!

They do better when there is more than just one. Where are you located? Someone near you might have another one that you could get.

Sometime's you have to read carefully before answering. I learned that already.

I do have extra silkies over here but not sure of the sex yet, and have some in my incubator. I'm over here in Arizona though.
