10 months ago, we got 4 peafowl eggs from a friend. All 4 ended up being infertile, but then our friend's peahen laid 3 more eggs. All three of those eggs were fertile, but a few days before they were supposed to hatch, the incubator broke! We had to transport the eggs to yet another place, where they hatched. We raised the peachicks, but when they were a few months old, two of them got sick and died, leaving one lonesome peafowl. Over time, he eventually became accustomed to just hanging out with chickens, dogs, and people. He sleeps in a garage, and one time we had 8 chicks that we put in there. The peacock seemed to enjoy the company, and when the chicks moved into the big chicken coop, the peafowl tried to follow. All he does all day is pace at the chicken's coop, trying to get in, and when we let the teenage chickens out, he follows them around. Sometimes he comes into the house to "help" with the dishes. (He throws them on the floor). When it's time to go back to bed, he sits by his mirror friend, then perches on the ping-pong table for the night. It makes me a bit sad to see how much he wants a flock. Can peafowl get depressed and lonely without other peafowl?

Yes, they are very social. Why not get a peahen or two?
Well, we don't really have the space to get more. the original plan was to give the peachicks back to the friend who gave them to us, but it didn't work out. He seems happy with people and chickens, but I was just wondering if he needs to have other peafowl, not just chickens.

Not really but he could also end up mating with your chicken hens.

Let him be free to roam wherever he wants to, just establish a safe roost and to continue to provide feed and water. My friend gifted me a young peacock because we used to have before my dad had us chase him off because of the noise MEEOOW MEEOOW (20yrs ago). So my friend gifted me one about six months ago. Now he has moved to are neighbor place about three acres from us and roosting on his house and trees. In the present he has about eight square acres of territory, competing with another cock about two blocks away. Now are guy has a peahen on a clutch of eggs, they would always come by once a day (maybe looking for a safe nesting area) who knows. Will see if we get any new peachicks roaming around.

There is another colony of peacocks a mile away.
