I live in longbeach allso thinking of raising chickens I guess we can have 8 with a yearly license no roosters and have to cage them no free range

Oh how nice to have other chicken people nearby! I haven't been looking here on BYC lately so I missed some of these entries until now.

I did get the chicks in March and now have 8 adult birds laying. What a joy!!

I am just east of Torrance Marietta. 4 of my chicklets were March hatch too. 3 are laying now but one won 't. Turned out to be a beautiful Cuckoo Blue Bar Roo. Have more that were April hatches and some of them are laying too. Fun, eh???

Not here either but a no crow collar and free fresh eggs to neighbors can go long way!!! Some of my hens are louder than a roo...Gold Laced Wyandotte is loudest! She wants the whole city to know she laid an egg. Guess because she's about 6 yrs old and Proud! My Cuckoo Blue Bar is awfully loud too and squawking before, after, and during. I didn't make that much noise when I delivered a 7 lb baby. No medication either. Yeah, I'm proud too I guess...
