I only have two laying hens that haven’t been laying much at all this summer because it’s been over 100 out. It’s been cooling off so we got a couple eggs but one of my chickens is laying these weird, no shell mass eggs. They’re rubbery and long and when you look at them you wonder how that can come out of a chicken. The first was 6 inches long, looked like she ate a paper towel!! That was a week and a half ago. Got one this morning and one the other day! They have oyster shells out there, baked crushed egg shells, layer feed, free range, I give them some alfalfa grass powder from my hay....
Has anyone had this problem? Not even a normal jello egg!

I know? So weird! She looks healthy as ever! At first I thought maybe egg bound and it came out “yay” but these repeats are the oddest ever! The first looked like twins, the others had a yolk broken

They're definitely weird. But aren't Lash Eggs which is good.

Do you feed anything else besides what's listed?

Look her over for lice/mites and if possible get a fecal float to see if she has worms.

It is a soft shell membrane. Since this is becoming consistent. Cut out the extra treats, do provide the layer feed and if she free roams, she can pick up bugs, grass, etc. on her own.

I'd try giving her 1 Calcium Citrate tablet daily for 5 days to see if the quality improves.
There are so many things that cause some glitchy problems with a hen's reproductive system, it's hard to know what direction to go.
First and foremost would be calcium and rule out internal and external parasites.

Sometimes as a hen ages, her system doesn't work properly and there's not a lot that can be done.

Ok she's only 3. I read about the calcium citrate,,,is that especially for chickens or human vitamins crushed up?? My other hen we had laid double yolks 3-4 times a week, ended up dying last year. Very sad. I could take this hen in to a vet but trying to decide "which one" it is. Both look healthy as ever! THANK YOU so much . No one seems to know much about this weird laying.
