One of my 5 girls laid this monstrosity sometime in the past few days.
I think it was the Delaware, she is almost 6 months old and has been showing nesting signs, but hasn't produced an egg. A few days ago she was breathing abnormally, (faster than normal) I tried to put her in the coop to watch her with our streaming channel while I worked, but she screamed and stressed herself out so badly I felt it was more detrimental to her to keep her in and I let her out back with the others. Other than the breathing she was completely normal. She had stopped breathing hard when I checked on her in a few hours and has been normal since. They are all on layer feed and have an abundance of bugs and grass to eat all day, the other girls' eggs are normal looking, so I don't think it's a lack of calcium. Maybe her body is just trying to figure out how to do this egg thing.
