Long tail no tail

Hi, I have 6 americana chick that I hatched 2 weeks ago tomorrow. My question is: Some have told me that females grow tails first. 3 of mine has about a half inch talk and 3 doesn't have any. Does that mean I have 3 males and 3 females. When they were 1 day old I tried to sex them by there wings. I decided that I had 3 m and 3 f but don't know which one I decided on before. Didn't keep up with it. Had no way to tag them at that time. Thanks.

Wing and tail sexing is a common myth. It is only accurate in chicks specifically from crosses of slow feathering female X fast feathering male and is only useful at one day of age. Easter Eggers ("Americanas") are a type of mutt and so feather sexing doesn't even remotely apply to them. You can watch ten different pullets of the same breed and age feather out ten different ways; the same goes for cockerels.
