This hen has had a long term respiratory issue starting back in August. Initially she wasn't coming out of the coop run but other than that seemed to be okay. Over time I started to notice the sneezing/congestion and brought her in and gave her antibiotics which didn't seem to help.

This hen I'm guessing is 7-8 years old and this breathing issue only happens in the morning and lasts about an hour. Then she goes back to normal and seems to be quite energetic along with a very good appetite. This hen also had a pendulous crop for about 3 years that seems to have completely vanished since this breathing issue came up.

I posted recently when she was at her worst and started treatment with Oxine which seemed to help but in these latest video she still seems to have this issue.

I'm curious if anyone as an opinion on what it could be. Maybe something age related? Thanks.

She may have a chronic respiratory disease, such as mycoplasma (MG,) which can come and go, but is never cured. Any stressors, such as cold weather, dust, molting, or others can bring on symptoms. She also could be sensitive to something in her environment, or mold.
I would just treat her if her symptoms get bad, and antibiotics such as Tylan 50 or Denagard, are sometimes used to treat MG. Make sure that her nostrils are clear, and that her feed is not too dusty.

Thank you for the response. She was much worse before oxine just not 100%. Right now she is completely back to normal as it only lasts for about an hour almost like an asthma attack.

Just an update here. This hen has been sick since about September and it really started getting bad over the last few months. I treated her initially with Tylan 50 which didn't help and then eventually oxine which seemed to help but was short lived. Something unusual recently happened. She has been eating oyster/calcium non stop and her breathing issues have completely stopped. She is back to normal which also includes overeating which gives her a pendulous crop which she seems to be able to handle well.

She has also laid 4 eggs in 5 days which seems odd because she hasn't laid an egg for probably close to 5 months.

There seems to be some kind of connection so maybe others will find this helpful. Yes it might also just be coincidence but she has been sick for so long it does seem odd.

This is when she was at her worst and it was very bad. Completely normal now.
