Long-term support for probable Marek's survivor--recommendations?

I admire you tenacity but Merak's is a form of cancer, brought on by a virus akin to the herpes virus. While a bird survives Marek's ever now and again, the chickens that live, will shed the Marek's virus every day of it's life and remain unthrifty To me it just isn't worth the trouble doctoring a chicken that may go to be responsible for killing dozens and dozens of pullets and cockerels.

Can you explain your net sling? What kind of net did you use? When we've tried slings before, it was the leg-holes-cut-in-a-towel kind. The hens seemed comfortable, but if they moved much at all, they could get twisted up in it.

type chicken sling into google images and you should see tons of different styles of the same concept which basically involves a few simple items.

cloth or net( an old towel can work )
a box or small square frame
tape and/or clips

i layer the box with some shavings then attach the net to the top of the box much like putting a cheese cloth over a canning jar. so now that it's covered, i outline the holes where her legs will go, then i cut a third hole for her to defecate through so that cleanup is easier for both of us.

while i haven't any experience with marek's thankfully, this style of sling is my go-to for anything from a broken leg to bumble foot.

hope this helps!
