Long time chicken wanter, finally chicken owner

I have been on this site browsing all things chicken for a long time but have finally joined the day we now own 4 beauties of our own. I want to let them free of their city life and run on our land, but how long should I give them to get used to the new area. the coop came with them, but I dont want them to get scared or run off.

cant wait to help them get used to the area and start loving country life.

Maybe just keep them in their coop for a couple days or so, make sure they can see out side.

Here are the girls. The dogs were super curious and excited.
Now we just have to make sure that they don't get any funny ideas.
If anyone has tips on dogs and chickens, please feel free to share, I don't want any incidents to make me have to get on the animals, even though they seem to be mostly OK so far.

I'm one who feels keep the dogs away from the chickens. Every thing loves chicken -and not in a good way.

Hmmmmm firstly, Yahhhhh chicky babes!
Dogs. Dogs are tricky. We had one who ate half our flock, couldnt help herself and out current dog herds them and knows shes not allowed to chase them. Everyone tells you never to Trust a dog with hens, its a Really tough call.
I would keep your girls in a big run, our recent dog grew up with hens , the first one didnt.
There are lots of threads here about dogs and poultry, its the reason I found this site.
